Diamonds & Latex lll

$1,050.00 - $1,350.00

Diamonds & Latex lll Hand woven mixed media tapestry art by Pamela Palma. I wove this series using specific yarns which I dyed by hand before weaving. Repurposed, upcycled household objects are interwoven, creating visual focal points of interest and exaggerated textures. The fabric is woven in a traditional diamond pattern, manipulated to contemporary relevance. The yarns are hand dyed yarns, changing in color and value, adding optical movement.

Diamonds & Latex lll

Size 15" x 18"   $1050.00

The Diamonds and Latex series is comprised of 3 tapestries as companion art works. Each is listed and sold separately and included as "options" in this listing, with images as well as a composite triptych. The companion art works are also shown as a triptych. Diamonds & Latex ll, Diamonds & Latex lll; and Diamonds & Latex lV.

Blue Moon Green Cheese

$2,500.00

Blue Moon Green Cheese, 34" x 14" wall panel woven by hand on a complex loom. This art work is 1 of 4 in my series of Moon Tapestries. It is my interpretation of a complex weaving pattern for an 8 shaft floor loom, which I reinterpreted to make it my own unique design.

The title, Blue Moon Green Cheese is a nod to an old myth I recall from childhood, s "The moon is made of Green Cheese." Why they ever said that, who knows? It inspired me to weave this superb wall hanging.

The panel measures 34" long by 14" wide. The left side has a black background (the warp

yarns); the right side has oatmeal colored warp. The two contrasting colors, black and oatmeal, were threaded (strung) onto the loom before weaving. Threading the loom takes an exorbitant amount of time and concentration. Each individual strand of yarn has to be threaded in an exact, precise sequence to create the moon patterns.

The weaving begins after the loom is set up and all the yarns are in place (about 450), following an exact sequence to create the pattern which, remember, I manipulated to elevate a traditional weave structure into a work of contemporary art, made entirely of yarn. I wove the moon pattern into the black and oatmeal warp using a bright blue yarn alternating with a grey-green yarn, in alternating bands.

Tricky. Complicated. Labor intensive. Immense patience required.

How long did it take me? 30 years of weaving experience + a lifetime of textile work + 8 weeks of design time + 8 weeks in process on the loom + 2 weeks after weaving to finish off loom (tie up loose ends, fringe, hems, press, mounting brackets, photograph, etc.).

A bargain at

$2500.00

Moon Rise Moon Set

$2,500.00

Moon Rise Moon Set, 32" x 14" wall panel woven by hand on a complex loom. This art work is part of my series of Moon Tapestries. It is my interpretation of a complex weaving pattern for an 8 shaft floor loom, which I reinterpreted to make it my own unique design. Like a painting, but woven. By hand. On a large loom.

The title, Moon Rise Moon Set highlights the color and size transitions we witness as the Moon makes her way across our sky. The panel measures 32" long by 14" wide. The left side has a black background (the warp yarns); the right side has oatmeal colored warp. The two contrasting colors, black and oatmeal, were threaded (strung) onto the loom before weaving.

Threading the loom takes an exorbitant amount of time and concentration. Each individual strand of yarn has to be threaded in an exact, precise sequence to create the moon patterns.

The weaving begins next, after all the yarns are in place and wrapped tightly onto the back of the loom. I weave following an exact sequence to create the pattern, the size, shape, colors of the moons which, remember, I changed the instructions. I elevate a traditional weave structure into a work of contemporary art, made entirely of yarn. I wove the moon pattern into the black

and oatmeal warp using a progression of colors from subdued to vibrant in hues of yellows, oranges and red.

Of course, art work cannot be valued by merely the time and materials. Creativity requires skill, technical expertise, imagination, design ability, and experience.

AENA - Temple Scripts Wall panel

$2,500.00

AENA - Temple Scripts Series Wall Panel. Original works of hand woven fine art, Temple Scripts is a series, a triptych, of 3 related panels. Aena, Anat, and Inanna, are named for pre-patriarchal Goddesses of the ancient Middle East. See last image for the complete triptych.

Weaving is written in code, very similar to musical scores. If you understand the code you can manipulate patterns, the way musicians write new music. I wrote new weaving code. That is how I created my Temple Scripts series. I started with the code for a tradtional weaving pattern and as I began to weave, I let my Muses, who are Goddesses, guide my work.

The panels represent the wisdom messages of one of three names given to the Mother Goddess from three ancient cultures. Her wisdom is extracted from the walls and pillars of ancient temples. It was imparted to me through the osmosis of art making and my affinity to the mystical wonders of female deities. Each panel is related in basic code format and colors; variations in design reflect the dialects of each of the three cultures - message from the Mother Goddess.

Temple Script panels are excellent for your meditation room. As you study the coded patterning, Her wisdom words may be imparted to you. Goddess wisdom that I channel is always positive, grounded in Love and Light.

AENA - Temple Scripts is a complex structure created on a floor loom. I used black linen and

purple/magenta cotton to create the design. All components, all design elements are the result of my visualization process and ability to translate code into outstanding fine art and are woven simultaneously. Nothing is added later.

How long did it take? Weeks to physically produce, with months of planning. AENA is, of course, one of a kind. Weaving is a long, complicated process of years of experience, inspired design, visualization, complex calculations, detailed set up/loom programming, creative weaving/inspiration, finishing touches. (Plus cataloging, photographing...)

The piece is my interpretation of the Caribbean island of St Lucia, floating languidly in the sea. Note the color changes within the sky and sea. This is the due to hand dyeing and creating variegated yarns in the dye baths. The fluffy couds are woven in using a type of novelty yarn.

Diamond Light Codes Textile Art

$1,550.00

Diamond Light Codes Textile Art by Pamela Palma Designs is a long wall panel woven on a complex loom. The pattern determines the design which is then woven in bands of colors, violet, purple, blue in a specific sequence.

Weaving is a form of code, like an alphabet, or musical notations. This particualr code spoke to me as representing the cosmic influences of the 21st century. Diamond Light Codes is the name that came to me as I created this piece. It represents an undelying structure not normally visible with the naked eye.

My art work is guided by my Muses whom I perceive as timeless beings, Goddesses. They nudge me to work in certain directions, with certain colors. I am their conduit for Universal influences. This project tested my patience to its limits and beyond. It required intense concentration while I prepped/programmed my loom and while I wove the piece, counting out sequences to follow the pattern and the color transitions.

Diamond Light Codes Textile Art measures 14" wide by 38" long. Mounting hardware is installed. The art is ready to hang.

Domestic shipping is included in the puchase price.
