Miami Beach Glory Days and Miami Beach Tutti Fruiti
I am thrilled to be back in the art world as an exhibiting artist. I recently applied to an international competition, Threaded lll, at Envisions Art, a virtual gallery managed by curator Ginger Cochran.
I was awarded Honorable Mention for my entries. This award is a welcome acknowledgment of my work after the long dry spell of 2020, a foggy year of distractions and cancellations.
Thank you Ginger and Envisions Art!
The works selected for Threaded lll can be viewed in her virtual gallery, HERE
Miami Beach Tutti Fruiti and Miami Beach Glory Days are two individual hand woven scrolls. They elevate the timeless tradition of handweaving to contemporary relevance as conceptual art. Metallic-wrapped linen yarn is interwoven with blingy, brightly colored threads expanding the coastal parameters, embellishing coveted Beach addresses. Upcycled, sliced maps of the island alternate with my signature element, one hundred dollar bills, (shredded by the Federal Reserve Bank and gifted to me ) deliver the message of extravagance in this tropical paradise I call home.
Miami Beach Tutti Fruiti and Miami Beach Glory Days are on view July 1 - 31, 2021 and available for purchase through Envisions Art.
