Where do Ideas come from? Everywhere, it seems!
Now that the Julia Tuttle mural is in the museum for assembly, I have my studio back! I tidied up and took a breath. What’s next? I went exploring in my UFO box - projects languishing until “someday.” I got my fingers busy putting this bit with that to see what I could make --how about a new iphone bag! It's in process but then...creativity breeds creativity. The juices began flowing again. Making things is my second nature. I was in my happy place! Later, I am taking a dinner break, eating dinner off my favorite china. It was my gift to myself in 1987 for finally returning to college, getting my degree to fulfill my dream as a fiber artist. An idea just popped into my head! This china is so pretty. Soft blue border, tiny hint of pink flowers, creamy white center, gold rim. Why not weave a table runner in these colors? I knew I had just the right yarn in my stash. Yesterday I got busy designing. I gathered a selection of potential yarns and moved them around by the china plate until I found just the right colors. I started imagining a striped sequence, visualized possibilities, did some quick calculations, then jumped right to the loom designing as I went along. Today I will begin to secure the warp (many steps) and be ready to weave in a day or two. New projects are so exciting. Oh and the iphone bag is waiting patiently to be finished. Someday. Soon. I promise.
