Learn to sew on the machine. I will show beginners how to thread the machine and the bobbin, how and when to sew a variety of stiches - straight, zig zag, novelties, when and how to press and clip your seams.
As you advance we will explore sewing with commercial patterns, how to choose them, how much fabric to buy, how to lay out the pattern, and the sequences of assembling your garment or home accessory.
BYO machine and the instruction manual. You will need sewing thread, sharp scissors designated as "fabric only" (Never cut paper with fabric scissors!) plain colored cotton fabric to practice on. and straight pins. Also helpful: seam ripper, tape measure, pencil, small notebook.
Class fees are $40/hour, 2-hour minimum per session.
