The Old Nunnery
The Old Nunnery is a layered mixed media weaving. The background layer is hand woven cloth (mine) with 3 different color grounds transversing the work. Onto this cloth I layered 4 mixed media images of an Old Nunnery. Each image is a section of the whole scene, viewed horizontally.
How I did it: I divided the whole image into 4 parts, I sliced each part into 4 strips and wove these strips with shiny gold metallic ribbons. Each section is its own fabulous art work!
Next I placed them just so across the length of my hand woven cloth and attached them to it along a horizontal axis. I went around each image and embellished them with ephemera and embroidered French knots. There are som 40 French Knots surrounding each image. (Not all are shown in these photos).
It was a very, very long process!

The Old Nunnery panel measures 12" high by 34" wide and is mounted on stretcher bars, ready to hang. Buyer may take it to a framer if desired, not included in purchase price.
