Visit Florida, River of Grass. Hand woven mixed media tapestry art by Pamela Palma. Geography reconfigured in woven format. I used black linen yarn and my hand dyed mohair yarn to set the foundation for the tapestry. Woven in are slices of tourist maps inviting us to Visit Florida! and shredded US Currency.
Marjory Stoneman Douglas was the champion of the Everglades. She recognized its unique and valuable ecosystem and worked tirelessly at an advanced age to protect it from devleopers. Florida's interconnected waterways are so much more than swamp and muck. She famously called it The River of Grass.
