TIed Up in Red Tape is an expression of relevancy as we weather the Covid-19 virus storm. Where is everything? Who controls the monetary system?
TIed Up in Red Tape is a mixed media art work woven on a loom. I incorporated upcycled plastic haz mat bags cut into strips and shredded one-hundred-dollar bills, legally obtained fromthe Federal Reserve Bank. Nice and crispy. perhaps counterfeit, perhaps confiscated from the launderers. There is yarn woven into the mix, holding it all together.
I wove this artwork on a 45" counterbalance loom, which is operated manually and with foot pedals, called treadles. Weaving is a complex process, more so than many art forms. It takes weeks and months to produce a quality work of woven art. It is something that I excel at and enjoy. It requires technical skill in combination with artistic vision and discipline. Not everyone can weave.
TIed Up in Red Tape has a companion piece, DIrty Money, listed and sold separately. Each is available exclusively in the Palma Store @PamelaPalmaDesigns.com
